Gwendolyn (Gwen) Pugh Crumpton, age 43 of Birmingham, passed away on March 22, 2023. She was born to the late William and Carole Pugh on January 2, 1980 in Tallahasse, Florida. She was the eldest of three children (sisters Jennifer Pugh and Caitlin Butts). Gwen was raised in Auburn, Alabama.

Gwen earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Montevallo, a Master’s degree in Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia, and a Specialist in Education Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kentucky. She used these well earned degrees to support her career as a Licensed Professional Counselor helping members of the Birmingham Community.

Gwen was best known as a devoted mother, sister, daughter, friend and counselor. She was incredibly loyal and proud of her two wonderful children. One of her biggest honors in life was to be the mom of Michael Archer and Evelyn.

She is survived by her children, Michael Archer Crumpton (10), Evelyn Crumpton (8), her sisters, Jennifer Pugh (Jody Self) and Caitlin Butts (Cody), and her nieces and nephews, Quinn Self, Campbell Butts and Caroline Butts.

Her beauty, kindness, sense of humor, and comforting nature will be always remembered.

A memorial service will be held at Southminster Presbyterian Church on Sunday, the 2nd of April 2023 at two o’clock in the afternoon. The church is located at 1124 Montgomery Highway, Vestavia Hills, Alabama 35216.
