Frank Ervin, a native and resident of Leroy, affectionately known to family and friends as “Frog,” made his earthly transition on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, at his residence. Born on July 17, 1953 to Albert Ervin Sr. and Sophie Donald Ervin; he was 69 years of age. He joined Mount Stoney AME Zion Church of Leroy at an early age. Frank was also a member of the Alabama National Guard.
Frank enjoyed cooking, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Left to cherish his memories are two children, Latasha Marie (Bryson) Magee of Lake Dallas, Texas and Lamaar Merrill Pernell of Temple, Texas; five grandchildren; seven siblings, Lula Mae (James) Jackson, Samson (Elder Carrie) Ervin Sr. and Louis Ervin, all of Leroy, Marilyn (Timothy) Williams and Willie Ervin Sr., both of McIntosh, and Lola Jean Ervin of Mobile; a devoted nephew, Willie Daffin Sr.; devoted friends, Virginia Savage, John Tarver and Tracy Tarver; with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Mary Lou Ervin; sisters, Florence Simon and Pearlean Ervin King; brothers, the Rev. Albert Ervin Jr., Joseph Ervin and Albert James Ervin; three aunts, Blanche Moore, Ann Louise Donald and Sarah Gulley; and one uncle, John Frank Donald.
The funeral service was Saturday, March 4, 11 a.m., at Good Stone AME Zion Church in St. Stephens. Interment followed in the Good Stone AME Zion Cemetery in Leroy.
Final life celebration was entrusted to Jackson Memorial Funeral Home.
